🌙 8 Ways To Dress Edgy Without Wearing Black | MOON Style Root
I am in awe of people who have edgy, rebellious or moody styles. They have such a mysterious air, they don’t care what anybody thinks, and they look powerful. I completely get the appeal, although I am in no way that girl. People with the moon style root tend to have dark, rebellious, gloomy, introspective and deep personalities. I am no risk taker, and I see myself as someone light, optimistic and so trusting that it’s just dangerous at this point. The girl with the moon style root is an enigma to me, but still, I am obsessed with her. Whether it’s Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl, Becca from Pitch Perfect or Faith from Buffy, I have a soft spot for the deep, dangerous character.
In today’s newsletter, I am going to break down some quick tips for bringing more of the moon style root into your personal style if you feel you relate to some of the characteristics I wrote about above.
Moon is one of the style categories in my system “style roots” which you can more about here.

3 details to add to your wardrobe to look more “moon”
Three “energies” that often play a role in the moon style root are protection, sultriness, carelessness. People with the moon style root need to feel strong, powerful, protected but also like they are careless and don’t care for the rules.
WEEKLY CURATION
☕️ YouTube - My new minimalist wardrobe by Matt D’Avella | I have watched so much of Matt’s content the past two days, and I especially loved this video about his wardrobe. I am not a minimalist, but I do agree with the principles of being conscious of what items you bring into your wardrobe and using discretion where possible
👟 Book - Shoe Dog by Phil Knight| I was really reluctant to read this book as I thought what can this old guy teach me about business? Do I even care? Boy was I wrong. Whether you have a business or not, Phil’s story about the love behind building his shoe brand and connecting quality to footwear to runners across the US really moved me. I also feel its a read for all us people pleasers; it really showed me how you need a bit of grit and to stand your ground sometimes
🪩 TikTok - how you can be an emotional grandma AND a clubbing girly by Unjaded Jade | this tiktok resonated with me so deeply. I don’t drink so for a long time I thought clubbing and dancing was a world I just didn’t belong in. Since then, I have been clubbing loads of times and with good music and good people I have the time of my life. I loved Jade’s thoughts on how we can box ourselves in when there is so much opportunity to grow and learn when we go out of our comfort zones
🥞 Reels - how to make your non-aesthetic space feel beautiful by @itiayo | I found this reel so motivating! It just shows how there is beauty everywhere in everything you do and you shouldn’t let where you are right now hold you back

Ask Me a Question!
This week’s question comes from Kate, thank you so much! She asks…
‘I’m a personal trainer and yoga instructor with a romantic body type and moon, stone and mushroom with a little fire. I live in leggings and feel like I have no style bc of my job. I’m over the athleisure look bc I live it - how can I dress for my job but still incorporate my style? Thank you!’
So many people have limits on what they can wear to work so you are not alone! My advice here would be the same as to someone in an office: of course you have to wear your uniform (in your case leggings, sports bra, t-shirt, hoodie I imagine from your question) but you can use details, colours and patterns to get across your personal style. With moon you could add an oversized leather jacket, incorporate some vampiric colours as detailed earlier in this blog post, or add a studded bag. When you are in a work position where there is a recognisable uniform, one or two touches are enough to convey your personality in a work setting, whilst still remaining professional. Turning up in a red plaid skirt and combat boots isn’t practical when you need to go into downward dog (for obvious reasons) but a little plaid sock might be a fun way to incorporate your root into your style.
