πŸ‘– How to Dress Casual As a Romantic? | REAL EXAMPLES

The thing most people hope the body types will fix is what they wear on a day to day basis, and yet actually navigating the body type recommendations for this purpose can feel impossible! Most of us don’t want to wear fancy dresses, heels, blouses, shirts, blazers on a day to day basis, and yet this seems to be most of the recommendations for the body types. In this week’s newsletter I focus on the Romantic body type, giving practical advice for how to dress for your lines AND dress casually

πŸ’‡β€β™€οΈ Do you choose your hair cut based on your hair or body?

How do you dress casual as a Romantic?

Okay, so you don’t want to dress like you’re on an Old Hollywood Red Carpet, but you can’t find any casual recommendations for your Romantic body type?

This is Rachel, she sent in her photos and asked me how she could still feel stylish as a new mum. She is 5”5, soft and rounded, and has a short vertical line. In the body matrix she would be narrow, round, short, in Kibbe a Romantic.

So many people struggle with this conundrum, so I’m going to recommend the best options for you using examples from my favourite shop, & Other Stories.

Wrap Top

A top which ends at the waist, has an open neckline, and soft fabric is a winner. This is as easy to slip on as a t-shirt but has a much stronger effect.

Draped Blouse

Softly draped fabric around the bust, an open neckline and lightweight fabrics are all perfect for curve

Wrap Cardigan

It goes without saying that you can use a wrap cardigan as a warmer alternative to the wrap top!

Round knitwear

Knitwear that you can tuck at the waist, has short round sleeves and a soft fabric is a win for Romantic types!

High waist linen trousers

Let’s not pretend that jeans are the comfiest trousers! Trousers with a flowy leg will be open which honours curve, plus they’re really comfy! High waist is best

Drawstring trousers

Trousers which have a pull at the waist help you to define your waist

High waist belted jumpsuit

What could be easier than a one piece? You don’t have to think about what does or doesn’t work with the item, you can just slip it on and you’re away. A jumpsuit like this with soft, clingy fabric and a round open neckline would be perfect for Romantic types

High waist midi skirt

The high waist nature of the skirt will emphasise your wait, and the draped fabric will feel comfortable and easy

How to incorporate your third style root? Accessories!

It can feel overwhelming to incorporate all three of your style roots in every outfit, so what if I said there was an easy way? Accessories is such a simple way to pull in your third root without much complicated thinking!

Ask Me a Question!

This week’s question comes from Rebekah, thank you so much! She asks…

Would you consider body type or essence more when choosing a haircut if they seem to conflict? (ex. flamboyant gamine - short/asymmetrical vs ethereal - long/timeless)

I find it best to cut your hair for your essence first. Your hair surrounds your facial features, so plays the largest role in the element that will suit you. With that said, a natural with a gamine essence might have a stronger or larger bone structure in the face than a flamboyant gamine with gamine essence, so a pixie cut might feel too small and light for their frame. As always, the answer is a little more complicated - you need a mix of the two. So if you wear a natural with gamine essence, you might want a long, layered haircut with a side fringe or curtain bangs. A romantic with natural essence might want natural rather than polished curls. Each element changes the other rather than it being a choice of either or!
